Thank you to everyone who was able to participate on our DEF Weekly NP/PA VideoSeries!

As a reminder, please continue to follow the guidance provided by your practices and supervising physicians, collaborative agreements, and state licensing boards to ensure that you are maintaining compliance. In addition, we urge you to follow mandates and direction provided to you by your state and local governments. As a reminder, this VideoSeries is for educational purposes and this is not an accredited series.

Dr. Keough from Knoxville Dermatology Group told us a little bit about his experience in a large practice that is planning to reopen full time on Monday. Some of his safety measures and precautions they’ve put in place can be seen in photographs during our VideoSeries. We invite you to watch it and share with your colleagues!

Thank you DermTech for sponsoring a portion of tonight’s presentation! Last night we discussed a novel tool for our Virtual Labcoats! DermTech has created a non-surgical, non-invasive, adhesive patch and platform using precision genomic technology called the DermTech PLA. DermTech PLA is essentially a non-surgical biopsy that provides an accurate and earlier detection of melanoma. This melanoma detection test can be performed by Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Dermatologists in our offices or it can be shipped to patients homes for telehealth visits. Dr. Markowitz showed us how this works and answered our related questions about her experience with melanoma detection via teledermatology.

We also talked to Dr. Markowitz about a recent paper by one of her colleagues at Mount Sinai who published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Tuesday their experience with five COVID-19 positive patients in their 30s and 40s who all developed acute ischemic large-vessel stroke. For 2 of the cases, stroke was the presenting symptom. See here for the paper to read and share with your colleagues.

Thank you again to Drs. Keough and Markowitz for their time well spent with us – and a special thanks to DermTech for sponsoring a portion of our program this evening.

Please email us at [email protected] for any topics of interest or questions you have so we might continue to meet your needs during our DEF NP/PA VideoSeries. Please continue to check our website DermNPPA.org for more information and follow and like us on social media.

Everyone, please stay safe and healthy! Thank you again from the DEF.
